Sharon Hayashi

Sharon Hayashi is Assistant Professor of Cinema and Media Studies in the Department of Film at York University. She teaches courses on the architecture of cinema, Japanese cinema, film history and the politics of archives and is currently working on a web-based archival project on the uses of new media by new social movements in Japan.

Carl Cassegard

Carl Cassegard is associate professor of sociology at the Department of Sociology, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He has lived in Kyoto for six years and is currently engaged in researching Japanese social movements and how they have responded to changes in Japanese society since the early 90's. He is the author of Shock and Naturalization in Contemporary Japanese Literature (Global Oriental, 2007).
